Some resources we have been enjoying while setting up our pastures and expanding our farm. At the moment we intensively graze our sheep, goats, cattle, (and even the rabbits ha!) across our property, and free-range our chickens & ducks. We are working towards a system where the sheep/goats follow the cattle through our pasture paddocks (at the moment they are grazing separate locations on the farm) as well as the chickens. Foraging style and preference of cattle, sheep and goat compliment each other and their movement on the property will be properly timed to ensure maximum intake of available pasture plants and nutrients. Simultaneously this style of grazing supports healthy, safe soil that provides homes for many Minnesota prairie insects, mammals, and birds. What a joy to be growing food in a way that works along side creation.
