There is a crispness in the air that is ever so slightly hinting at fall – my how summer flies by! After the heat last week the cool down is a welcome relief for all the animals and our family here on the farm.
We had lots of extra milk available this week after being gone for the county fair last week. Thank you to everyone who moved their milk pick up days to later in the month so we could enjoy some time with friends and the animals. I don’t like to sell milk that is more than 24 hours old, but it keeps beautifully for 7-10 days, so I used today to restock on dairy goodness for our family. The kids and I whipped up 3 lbs of cultured butter, 4 lbs melty-mozzarella cheese, 4 gallons of Greek yogurt, and of course, 2 quarts of ice cream. Yum!
Our second dairy cow’s calf is officially weaned, so we do have additional milk availability starting this month into the fall if you need good, raw milk for drinking or your own home creamery projects – don’t hesitate to text me at 507-232-9902 or respond to this email and get on the pick up schedule.
We have so many new faces here I wanted to quick share again that our farm is about so much more than just raising amazing food. We are a community of people supporting each other as we:
- Raise healthy families nourished with nutrient-dense food grown in a honest and as natural way as possible
- Encourage slow family life, such as spending extra time in the kitchen cooking with local, simple ingredients
- Care about both our bodies and the land we live on
- Educate children about where their food comes from (bring your kids to meet our animals – we have piglets right now!)
- Promote humane and caring practices to raise our animals that also support local soil and conservation efforts
- Build each other up in Christ.
This farm is our passion, and I’m beyond grateful to share our products, experiences, and lives with you and your family. Your presence enriches our family farm community, and we’re so very thankful for you.
Also before I forget, our new little farm store is nearing completion AND we just got approval from the state of MN to start selling our grass-fed meat right here on the farm! My daughter Marion said excitedly today “it is really happening mom, I can’t wait!”
