I just came back in from our cow pasture with no new news.
Farming has a funny way of reminding me who’s really in charge of the calendar. Lately, I’ve been feeling like the person standing over a watched pot, waiting for it to boil. Except in this case, the pot is Rosie.
She is as big as ever, her udder is full, and every morning I head out to the pasture wondering if today will be the day. And every morning she seems perfectly content to waddle around, enjoy fresh grass, soak up the sunshine, and carry on as though she has all the time in the world.
So, for those of you who have reached out asking about milk, we’re still waiting.
The weather looks beautiful this week, and perhaps that’s a blessing in disguise. While Rosie takes her sweet time, I’m shifting my attention to finishing the duck pond with my son, putting hay up for winter, trying to stay ahead of the garden, and enjoying the gift of having the kids home for the summer. There will be hikes, swimming adventures, and plenty of opportunities to make memories before another school year sneaks up on us.
It’s a good reminder that life often unfolds on God’s timetable rather than our own. As we’re told in Ecclesiastes 3:1, “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.“
For now, we’re trusting the season we’re in, enjoying these sunny June days, and waiting patiently for Rosie to decide the time is right.
As always, we’ll let you know when fresh milk is flowing again.
Until next time,
