How are you today? I’m feeling especially optimistic and happy this morning. I recently heard from a good friend that she and her husband are expecting a baby after years of waiting, what a blessing!
I can’t tell you how much joy it brings me to see so many of our farm customers expecting new babies too. Right now, we have six moms-to-be in our community (that I know of), and several more who just welcomed their little ones. New life is such a gift—one that fills me with awe every time.
My mom used to say that when a couple announced they were expecting, it filled her with happiness because “it shows they have hope for the future and the life to come.” And I feel the same way. After having five babies of my own, I’m still amazed at how God created women to grow and bring new life into the world. Those first baby moments—the tiny fingers, the warm cuddles, that sweet newborn smell—are just so special.
Pregnancy is such a beautiful reminder of God’s incredible design. “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” (Psalm 139:13-14) What a gift as a woman to be part of His creation in this way!
One of our farm customers found us through her doula, who recommended raw milk to nourish her and her baby during pregnancy. After her baby was born, she sent me this message:
“I wanted to update you now that the newborn haze is lifting! 😊 We welcomed a healthy baby boy… I was just about 42 weeks but so grateful that I got my peaceful home birth for him. It was truly amazing! Thanks to you and your cows’ milk, he was a healthy 8 lbs, 4 oz and 21.25 inches long. We are both doing great, and I can’t believe he’s two weeks old already! Big sister is loving on him constantly.”
I love meeting new moms and hearing how they nourish their bodies during pregnancy. The Weston A. Price Foundation has a fantastic guide to real, whole foods that help support both mom and baby—you can check it out here. One of the foods recommended, something both my mother and I craved during pregnancy, is beef liver. If you’re expecting (or know someone who is), I’d love to be part of your journey. Email me at [email protected] and I’ll set some grass-fed beef liver aside for you the next time you visit as a gift (as long as freezer stock lasts). Whether it’s nutrient-dense food, or simply encouragement, I’m here for you.
