Hello! How are you doing today?
I am doing well, a little chilly after morning chores (I have to give myself a bit of a pep talk before heading out into the cold, but once outside I do love how crisp and clean winter feels). It is a season of rest, reflection, and renewal. While the rhythm of chores continues, the pace also slows just enough to open up space for something I love deeply: reading.
If I’m honest, I avoid picking up books in the summer—they pull me in so completely that I lose track of time. More than once, I’ve looked up from a page-turner to find it’s 8:00 p.m., the kids are wondering what’s for supper, and my husband is laughing, saying, “So THAT’S where mom has been the past six hours.”
But in winter? Winter is perfect for books. Snuggling with the kids in the living room while Benjamin reads (we are in the middle of “The Big Winter, by Laura Ingalls Wilder right now), or sneaking in a few chapters before bed, this is the season I let myself indulge. Books feed my mind and soul, much like good simple food feeds the body.
That’s where you come in. I’d love to hear about a book that has left its mark on you—something that made you laugh, cry, or think deeply. Maybe it’s an old favorite, or maybe it’s something you just finished. Whatever it is, I want to know!
Drop me a quick reply with your recommendation at [email protected] or text 507-232-9902. I promise I’ll read it (or listen to it during milking if I can find the audio version)! And who knows, your suggestion might even become a new favorite I’ll pass along to someone else.
Thank you for being part of this farm and this journey. Your connection inspires me every day, and I can’t wait to hear what stories and ideas have touched your life.
Warmly,
Leah

Oh my this is so light and heavenly! For Christmas our family received a Ninja Creamy – this is a “Dreamsicle” smoothie. Just 2 ingredients – 3 peeled oranges (from the kids Christmas goodie bag at church -haha!) and 1/2 cup thick raw cream from our dear milk cows. Simple, wholesome ingredients for the win! If you are trying to reduce refined sugar in your home these are a great start. We are excited to try lots of different combos in 2025! |
