I pray your week is off to a good start. I’m so grateful the world has warmed up after this weekend—even if it is a bit windy!
The other day, a milk customer pulled up on a gusty afternoon and said, “I see your topsoil is not blowing away today.” That simple comment is very true! Unlike conventionally tilled fields that lose precious soil to the wind, our pastures are designed to hold on—to moisture, nutrients, and life. Deep-rooted grasses and carefully managed rotational grazing create a living carpet that:
* Locks in topsoil – Preventing erosion and protecting fertility
* Holds moisture – Reducing the need for irrigation
* Reduces flooding – Letting the land absorb heavy rains
* Feeds the animals naturally – As cows, sheep, and even pigs move through the pastures, they fertilize the soil, aerate it, and encourage regrowth
This isn’t just farming—it’s regeneration in action. The same rich soil that stays put in the wind also grows the deep-nourishing food that fills your freezers. How awesome it is to be part of this important work.
Thank you for supporting farming that nurtures the land and allows it to flourish for years to come.
Blessings,
Leah & the Great Heritage Farm Family
