Can you still hear it echoing in your heart?
“Hosanna to the Son of David!”
At church yesterday, the kids waved palm branches high and sang, just like the crowds did on that first Palm Sunday—welcoming Jesus into Jerusalem as their King.
Holy Week is my favorite season in the church year, and it ends with my favorite day—Easter! I can’t help but write about it. It’s such a special time. As a farmer, the biblical imagery comes alive for me—especially after years of living among sheep.
Sheep are skittish, they wander easily, and they’ll follow the crowd without knowing why. They need a shepherd—someone to guide, protect, and rescue them.
And the more I watch them, the more I realize… we’re not so different.
We get anxious.
We get tangled up in the burdens of life.
We wander too.
But thanks to God, we’re not left alone.
We have a Good Shepherd—Jesus—who came to seek and save the lost.
And even more amazing… He is also the Lamb.
The Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world. (John 1:29)
He offered Himself in our place, so we could be forgiven, free, and forever safe in His flock.
This week, we walk the road from waving palms… to the quiet of Gethsemane… to the cross… and finally, to the joy of the empty tomb.
Through it all, may your heart stay close to Him.
Because He came for you. (Luke 19:10)
He knows you by name. (John 10:14)
He was led like a lamb to the slaughter—silent, willing, and victorious—for you. (Isaiah 53:7)
And here’s what I want you to hold with bold, quiet confidence:
This was for you. (Romans 5:8–9)
You are completely forgiven. (Colossians 2:13–14)
You are clothed in His righteousness. (Isaiah 61:10)
You can walk through this sacred week holding both the sorrow and the joy—knowing the glory that follows the suffering.
Not because of anything you’ve done, but because of everything Christ our King has done.
Lately, I’ve been waking up to the early songs of birds and the soft first light peeking through my windows.
In those quiet moments, I find myself praying—thanking God for the gift of a new day, wiggling my toes in gratitude for a healthy body, remembering those I love and giving thanks for family and friends. I ask Him for a calm enthusiasm to greet each new day with peace and purpose.
May this Holy Week draw you close to the Good Shepherd who laid down His life for the sheep. Even in the stillness of morning or the tangle of a busy day, may you find comfort in His voice. And as you wait for Easter morning, rest in this promise:
“I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die.” (John 11:25)
With love,
Leah + the family
